Women’s Soccer Adds Two More to the 2016 Recruiting Class

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University women's soccer first-year head coach Julie Davis Carlson has added two more signees to her already strong 2016 recruiting class. Davis Carlson is looking to build off of a 2015 season where the Trojans team advanced to the postseason for the fourth time in five seasons.

The Black and Gold welcomes new signee Tina Shakes (Coral Springs, Fla./Clemson University) and Alexis Hartert (Waxhaw, N.C./Campbell University) who will be joining Emilie Toftbjerg (Aaarup, Denmark), Kristrun Antonsdottir (Hveragerdi, Iceland/Pepperdine University), Melanie Maddox (Midlothian, Virginia/Veritas School), Taylor Engle (Westchester, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick H.S.), Stephany Rose Diaz (Miami Palmetto Senior H.S.) and Bethany Morgan (Anderson, S.C./TL Hanna H.S.), on the team for the upcoming campaign.

Name: Tina Shakes

Position: Forward

Hometown: Coral Springs, Fla.

Previous School: Clemson University

Shakes comes to the Trojans as an experienced Division I player who has played at the top level while at Clemson. During her stint at Clemson, she saw action in 55 contests with 15 starts to her credit. As a high school prep, Shakes was a seven year starter for Stoneman Douglas High School varsity soccer team while being named a Top Drawer Soccer National Top-100 player in 2012. Shakes also contributed to her club soccer team in the U14, U16, and U17 age brackets winning the Florida State Cup Championship in each division.

Davis Carlson on Shakes: "We are delighted to have Tina join our team for this fall. She comes to us with a plethora of knowledge and a wealth of high level experience in the ACC and Clemson women's soccer. She will be a major asset in our offense. She is very competitive, loves to shoot, and is a fast, strong and powerful player. She will continue to improve our teams speed and quality of play going forward. During my time at Clemson, Tina was always a great teammate and a caring person off the field. I have seen her destroy top level players in the ACC and be an instrumental key to the success at Clemson. Her desire to come in and bring that with her will be extremely instrumental."

Position: Central Defender

Hometown: Waxhaw, N.C.

Previous School: Campbell University

Hartert joins the Trojans after transferring from Campbell where she saw action against UNC-Ashville and Appalachian State. During her three-year varsity high school career, Hartert was named All-Conference and All-Region her junior and senior seasons while serving as team captain. Hartert played club soccer with Carolina Elite Soccer Association ECNL program and Lake Norman Soccer Club.

Davis Carlson on Hartert: "Alexis comes to us with a huge desire to compete. We see her stepping in right away and being instrumental in our back four. She is good in the air, tidy on the ball and has shown great ability to possess out of the back with her vision to distribute effectively. She is a bright student. We are looking forward to what she is going to bring to the team and add to an already strong group."
