Women’s Soccer Slotted No. 9 in First NSCAA Southeast Regional Rankings

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Opening the season with three straight victories, Anderson University women's soccer was slotted No. 9 in the weekly National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Southeast Regional Rankings, announced by the NSCAA earlier this week.

This season, the Black and Gold offense has shined as they enter their next match on Friday outscoring their opponents 13-0.

Seniors Tina Shakes and Alaina Gay have been major factors for the Trojan attack. Shakes scored a goal apiece in the opening two matches while exploding for four goals Wednesday night to total six for the season. Gay scored three goals and accounted for two assists in the opening two matches earning her SAC AstroTurf Player of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday.

Anderson looks to improve on its ranking on Friday when it hits the road to play nonconference opponent, Armstrong State at the Bobcat Shootout in Milledgeville, Ga. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
