Women’s Soccer Travels to No. 14 Carson-Newman on Saturday

ANDERSON, S.C. – After a week layoff, the Anderson University women's soccer team will travel to Jefferson City, Tenn. for a South Atlantic Conference matchup with No. 14 Carson-Newman on Saturday evening.

SERIES HISTORY
Last season, the Trojans handed the Eagles their only SAC regular season loss by defeating them, 2-1, at Trojan Stadium. However, the Eagles were able to defeat Anderson in the SAC Tournament advancing Carson-Newman to the next round and eventually earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Black and Gold holds a slight lead in the all-time standings, 7-6-1, dating back to 1993.

ANDERSON OVERVIEW
• The Trojans are coming off of their first conference loss after a 1-0 defeat by Tusculum.
• Sophomore keeper Bianca Porras has recorded nine saves during her past two starts.
• Senior Tina Shakes leads Anderson in goals with eight.
• Senior Alaina Gay and Sophomore Sophie Riggs leads the Trojans with two assists apiece.
• In 2003, Coach Carlson faced Carson-Newman when Carlson was at the helm at Virginia Military Institute's women's soccer program. The Eagles defeated the Keydets, 5-0, a program that Carlson had just started in 2002.

CARSON-NEWMAN OVERVIEW
• The latest release of the NSCAA rankings has the Eagles ranked No. 14 in the nation and No. 1 in the Southeast Region.
• Julianne Herrity leads the team and the SAC with 13 goals on the season.
• Lauren Wade and Holly Talbut-Smith are the SAC and team leaders with six assists on the year.
• Lenoir-Rhyne's 1-0 win over Carson-Newman on Wednesday snapped the Eagles five match win streak.
