Women’s Soccer to Play in 2016 Bobcat Shootout Over Weekend

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University women's soccer team looks to continue its momentum heading into weekend play at the 2016 Bobcat Shootout hosted by Georgia College in Milledgeville, Ga.

SERIES HISTORY
• Overall Record – Armstrong State leads 1-0 (2006)
• In 2006, the Trojans and Pirates squared off with Armstrong defeating the Black and Gold 8-0.

ANDERSON OVERVIEW
• Anderson began its 2016 campaign 3-0 while outscoring its opponents 13-0.
• Senior Alaina Gay scored three goals and had two assists during the first week of play earning her the AstroTurf SAC Player of the Week.
• Senior transfer Tina Shakes scored a goal apiece in the first two matches while exploding for four goal in the Trojans last outing, moving her goal total for the season to six.
• Junior Lyssa Engle has three goals to her credit so far on the young season.

ARMSTRONG STATE OVERVIEW
• Armstrong State finished 13-5-3 in 2015, advancing to the NCAA Southeast Region second round as well as the Peach Belt Conference tournament semifinals.

• The Pirates return 10 starters and 19 players overall.
• Armstrong was picked to finish 2nd in the PBC Preseason Rankings
• Opened up the 2016 season with a 2-0 loss to Embry-Riddle.
