Women's Soccer Remains Perfect in Conference Play

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University women's soccer team needed extra time to defeat Brevard,1-0, on Wednesday afternoon moving the Trojans to 3-0 in conference play for the first time in program history.

With the win, the Black and Gold improve their record to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play while Brevard drops to 3-3 overall and 0-3 in SAC action.

Despite outshooting the Tornados 24-7 in shots and 11-1 in corner kicks, the Trojans could not find the back of the net in regulation. Brevard played solid defense keeping the Trojans off balance for most of the match.

However, just 47 seconds into overtime, senior Emily Perez found the rebound off of Brevard's goalie Laurel Neuzil from a shot taken by sophomore Sophie Riggs to give the Trojans the 1-0 victory.

Sophomore Bianca Porras grabbed her second start as a Trojan recording three saves on the afternoon with two coming in the second half of play.

Anderson returns to action when it host SAC foe Tusculum on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
