ANDERSON, S.C. -- Making her final regular-season appearance at the Abney Center, Deidra Langston scored 29 points to lead No. 21 Anderson University to a 79-61 victory over Limestone Thursday night. Langston, a 5-foot-10 senior from Gainesville, Ga., went over the 2,000-point mark for her career by making a free throw with 10:07 remaining in the game. She is the second Anderson player to score more than 2,000 career points. With the victory, Anderson, 21-5 overall and 15-4 in the CVAC, snapped a two-game losing streak. The loss drops Limestone to 9-17, 8-11. The Saints took the lead three minutes in the game and led by as many as seven points in the first eight minutes. But Anderson outscored Limestone 28-10 in the final 12 minutes of the first half to take a 42-31 lead at the break. The Lady Saints got within seven points -- 47-40 -- with 16:42 remaining before the Lady Trojans started pulling away. A 22-12 run gave Anderson a 20-point lead, its largest of the game (72-52) with 4:09 to play. Latrice Thomas fueled the run by scoring nine of her 18 points. Keana Boyd was the third Anderson player in double figures with 15 points. Lindsay Kyle scored 17 points to lead Limestone. Tiffany Jones chipped in 14 points for the Lady Saints. In addition to her 18 points, Thomas, a junior from Graniteville, S.C., grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, handed out three assists, and had three steals. Boyd recorded nine of Anderson's 15 assists. Anderson was 21-for-24 from the line and outscored Limestone by nine points at the stripe. Anderson is ranked No. 3 in this week's East Region poll.
