Pederson Announces 2003 Signing Class

ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson College head women's basketball coach Kevin Pederson announced the addition of seven players to the AC roster Monday. "We are extremely excited about this signing class," said Pederson, who led Anderson to 17 victories in his first full season. "We addressed our No. 1 by adding more size. Five of the new players are taller than six feet." The new members of the AC women's team are: - Stephanie Ponds, a 6-2 forward from North Central High School in Kershaw, S.C. Ponds was the MVP of the 2003 North-South All-Star game played at Winthrop University. She averaged 24.8 points and 13.8 rebounds per game and was a two-time all-state player. - Catie Cornett, a 6-1 post from Southside Christian School in Greenville, S.C. Cornett averaged 18.5 points and 10 rebounds per game. She played in the North-South All-Star game and was an all-state player. - LaShanda Chiles, a 5-2 point guard from Greenwood, S.C. Chiles averaged 21.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. She played in the North-South All-Star game and was an all-state player. She scored 44 points in a single game last season. - Kimberly Williams, a 6-1 post from Chesnee High School in Chesnee, S.C. Williams averaged 12.5 points and 11.1 rebounds per game for a team that reached the Class AA Upstate championship game. She was a two-time all-conference selection, an All-Area selection by the Spartanburg Herald-Journal, and an all-state selection in 2003. - Phalon Foggie, a 6-0 post from Seneca High School in Seneca, S.C. Foggie averaged 10 points and 12 rebounds per game. - Deidra Langston, a 5-9 wing from East Hall High School in Gainesville, Ga. Langston averaged 17.5 points per game for a team that reached the Sweet 16 of the state tournament. She was a three-time All-Northeast Georgia pick and was named Hall County Player of the Year in 2003. - Kim Hausman, a 6-3 wing from Oconee County High School in Watkinsville, Ga. Hausman averaged 15 points per game and shot 45 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free throw line.
