Segers Leads AC To Rout Of Mount Olive

ANDERSON, S.C. - Leann Segers scored 35 points to lead Anderson College to an 85-62 rout of Mount Olive in a CVAC women's game Thursday night at the Abney Center. Segers, a freshman from Hartwell, Ga., and a two-time CVAC Player of the Week, topped 30 points for the third time this season and scored in double figures for the 11th straight game. She has scored 20 or more points in eight of AC's last 11 games. The victory improves AC to 11-8 overall and 8-4 in the CVAC. The Lady Trojans are now 9-0 at home this season. Mount Olive falls to 6-13, 5-7. Segers was 14 for 25 from the field and made six 3-point goals. Amy Davidson, who had four 3-point goals, came off the bench to score 16 for AC. Decole Shoemate chipped in 11 points. Mount Olive was led by Sha-Necia Head and Monique Murphy with 10 points apiece. AC won the game going away despite some serious foul trouble. When the game ended, four AC players had four fouls apiece. Mount Olive was 20 of 32 from the line, while AC was 12 for 13. AC's largest lead of the first half came at the 11:39 mark when a 3-point goal by Segers put the Lady Trojans up 14 - 26-12. In the first 12 minutes of the second half, AC hit Mount Olive with a barrage of 3-pointers. Segers and Davidson hit three apiece to help increase AC's lead to 20 - 70-50 - with 8:21 to play. AC's largest lead of 25 points came on a 3-point goal by Nicole Beasley with 27 seconds remaining.
