Shoemate Leads AC Past Limestone, 64-56

GAFFNEY, S.C. -- Decole Shoemate scored 28 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Anderson College to a 64-56 victory over Limestone in a CVAC women's game Saturday night. Anderson, 15-10 overall and 12-6 in the CVAC, trailed 32-26 at the half after shooting just 31 percent from the field and missing eight attempts from behind the arc. The loss drops Limestone to 2-22, 2-16. In the second half, the Lady Trojans used 14 free throws and defense to deny Limestone's upset bid. Anderson made 14 free throws in the second half, while Limestone made just nine field goals. Anderson finished the game 20 of 31 from the line, while Limestone was 8 for 11. Deanna Thompson was the only other Anderson player in double figures with 12. Anderson won the boards, 46-32 and forced 23 Limestone turnovers. The Lady Trojans scored 21 points off Limestone's turnovers. Anderson had one of its worst offensive nights of the season. The Lady Trojans shot just 34 percent from the field and made just two 3-point goals. Anderson's 15 victories ties the school record for victories in a single season as a four-year program.
