ANDERSON, S.C. - Kelly Latham made a 3-point goal with 2:29 remaining and Maya Fouch scored five points in the final 1:04 to lead Anderson to a 68-67 victory over Barton in a Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference women's game Wednesday night at the Abney Center. The victory evens AC's overall record at 5-5 and improves the Lady Trojans to 2-1 in the CVAC. Barton falls to 4-4, 1-2. Anderson was led by Decole Shoemate, who scored a game-high 23 points before fouling out with 14 seconds remaining. Latham and Leann Segers added 17 points apiece for AC. Adrienne Walker was Barton's leading scorer with 21 points. Lisa Halttunen and Kelly Lamotta had 12 points apiece for the Lady Bulldogs. AC led the entire first half, but the second half was a back-and-forth affair. There were five ties and 10 lead changes in the second half. Latham snapped the final tie with 2:29 remaining when she buried a jumper from the left wing. With 1:04 remaining, an inside bucket by Fouch gave AC a 66-61 lead. With AC leading 66-64, Fouch was fouled with 13 seconds remaining. She made both free throws to give AC a 68-64 lead. But Susan Doggett drilled a 3-point basket from the top of the key with three seconds remaining to cut the AC lead to 68-64. After a Barton timeout, AC threw the inbounds pass into the front court. Barton retrieved the ball but could not get off a shot before the final horn sounded. The rebounds were even at 35 apiece and both teams shot in the mid-40s from the field.
