Pfeiffer Holds Lady Trojans To Season Low

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Pfeiffer held Anderson almost 30 points below its season average to take a 68-56 victory in a CVAC women's game Tuesday night. The Lady Trojans entered the game averaging 82.9 points per game, but they managed just 27 points in the first half and 56 points for the game. AC's 56-point total was its lowest of the season. The previous low was 61 against Armstrong Atlantic on Nov. 23. Pfeiffer, 12-2 overall and 7-1 in the CVAC, led 59-48 with less than three minutes to play and was on its way to an easy victory. But five quick points by Kelly Latham -- a 3-point goal and then a steal and a basket -- cut the Pfeiffer lead to 61-56 with little more than a minute remaining. In the final minute, the Falcons were 7 for 8 from the line to put the game away. The loss, AC's second consecutive to an upper division CVAC team, drops the Lady Trojans to 9-7, 6-3. Pfeiffer's leading scorer was Shannon Reid with 14 points. Amie Williams added 11 for the Falcons. Anderson was led by Leann Segers with 14 points, Decole Shoemate with 11 points, and Latham with 10 points, all in the second half. Segers made 4 3-point goals and had a game-high 10 rebounds. Neither team had a stellar night from the field. Pfeiffer shot 39 percent, while AC managed just 35 percent. For the second straight game, the Lady Trojans got drilled at the free throw line.
