First-Place Lees-McRae Ends Lady Trojan Win Streak

BANNER ELK, N.C. - Lees-McRae posted a decisive 92-83 victory over visiting Anderson College on Saturday afternoon at Williams Gymnasium. Jameka Hemming scored 33 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Bobcats. Hemming was 14 for 17 from the field and 5 for 7 from the free throw line. The Bobcats (12-3, 8-0 CVAC) held a 49-38 lead at the break and kept a comfortable distance from the Trojans (9-6, 6-2 CVAC) to seal the victory - despite being outscored 45-43 in the second half. The loss ended AC's six-game winning streak and puts the Lady Trojans two games behind Lees-McRae in the CVAC standings. AC is now 1-1 on its current four-game road trip. Laura Parker chipped in 18 points, Deanna Lady had 16, Julie Hardison 12 and Allison Absher 11 to round out double-digit scoring for the Bobcats. Leann Segers tallied 24 points to pace the Trojans. Amy Davidson added 15 points, Decole Shoemate had 13, Shemika Reed 12, and Michelle Fleck 10 to cap double-figure scoring for the Trojans. The difference in the game came at the free throw line where Lees-McRae was 25 for 28, while Anderson was 7 for 7. Lees-McRae shot 58 percent from the field to AC's 41 percent.
