Lady Trojans Sweep Series Against Abbey, 73-53

BELMONT, N.C. - Decole Shoemate scored 23 points and Leann Segers added 22 points to lead Anderson to a 73-53 victory over Belmont Abbey in a CVAC women's game Tuesday night at the Wheeler Center. Anderson, 12-9 overall and 9-5 in the CVAC, has won four straight regular-season meetings against Belmont Abbey, now 13-8, 9-5. The Lady Trojans, who scored a season low 40 points in last Saturday's loss at Barton, scored 30 points in the first half and then pulled away in the second half. AC shot 47 percent from the field in the second half and put 43 points on the board. Segers was 9 for 12 from the field, while Shoemate was 9 for 11 from the free throw line. Anderson won the boards, 45-38. Deanna Thompson had a game-high 14 rebounds, and Michelle Fleck had a career-high 11 boards for AC. AC limited Belmont Abbey to 35 percent for the field and the Lady Crusaders made just 1 of 21 shots from behind the arc. The Lady Trojans made five 3-point goals - three by Amy Davidson and two by Segers. Belmont Abbey was led by Ebony Pharr with 18 points and Whitney Hill with 13 points.
