Lady Trojans Run Past Queens, 100-80

ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson College reached triple digits for the third time this season to beat Queens University of Charlotte 100-80 Saturday afternoon at Abney Center. For the first time in the history of the four-year program, Anderson had three players score 20 points or more in a single game. Decole Shoemate led the Lady Trojans with 26 points, Leann Segers, who was 5 for 10 from behind the arc, tallied 25, and Deanna Thompson scored 21. Anderson has scored 100 points three times this season, twice in CVAC games. The Lady Trojans have score 80 or more points 11 times. The victory improves Anderson to 13-9 overall and 10-5 in the CVAC. Queens falls to 7-14, 5-10. The Lady Trojans are now 10-0 at home this season. Queens was led by Leslie Olson with 21 points, Britani Carter with 16, and Sarah Newman with 13. Anderson trailed by four - 28-24 - with 7:03 remaining in the first half but closed the half with a 19-10 run for a 43-38 lead at the break. In the first six minutes of the second half, the Lady Trojans went on a 19-7 run for a 62-45 lead with 13:51 to play. Five different Lady Trojans scored during the run. Segers opened the run with a 3-point goal, and Thompson closed it out with two consecutive field goals. The Royals got no closer than 10 points the rest of the way. Claire Houck put the Lady Trojans over the century mark by making a free throw with 30 seconds remaining. Anderson shot 58 percent in the second half to finish the game at 50 percent, while Queens managed just 37 percent from the field. Led by Olson, who had eight rebounds, Queens won the boards, 49-43. Shoemate was the game's leading rebounder with 10. Anderson had 25 assists, seven by Thompson and five by Shoemate, and just 12 turnovers. Game Statistics Season Statistics
