ANDERSON, S.C. - Pfeiffer used a 38-9 run over a 17-minute span to take control of the game and beat Anderson College 71-61 in a women's CVAC game Saturday afternoon at the Abney Center. The victory wraps up the CVAC regular-season title for the Falcons, 23-3 overall and 18-2 in the league. The loss drops Anderson to 16-11 overall and 13-7 in the CVAC. The loss also spoiled AC's perfect season at home and ends the Lady Trojans' home winning streak at 14 games. AC finishes the regular season 12-1 at home. The CVAC Tournament situation for the Lady Trojans will be determined on Sunday. Belmont Abbey beat Lees-McRae Saturday to break the tie with Anderson, but Lees-McRae has one game remaining on Sunday afternoon. If Lees-McRae loses that game to Mount Olive, Anderson will get a bye to Wednesday's second round. If Lees-McRae beats Mount Olive, Anderson will play at home Monday at 7 p.m. Anderson jumped out to a 21-11 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game, but from that point, it was all Pfeiffer. A 3-point goal by Amanda Joplin gave Pfeiffer a 24-23 lead with 3:59 left in the first half. Pfeiffer never trailed again. Pfeiffer led 32-28 at the half and used a 19-5 run in the first seven minutes of the second half to increase its lead to 51-33. Pfeiffer's largest lead of 23 points - 64-41 - came with 6:18 left in the game. Pfeiffer was led by Amie Williams with 16 points, Joplin with 15 points, and Shannon Reid with 14 points. Leann Segers led Anderson with 16 points. Decole Shoemate scored nine points in the first 10 minutes of the game before leaving with a hyperextended knee. Deanna Thompson added 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for Anderson. Pfeiffer shot 54 percent from the field while limiting Anderson to 40 percent. In the second half, the Falcons shot 57 percent (16-28) from the field. Williams and Bertshalyn Bailey had five assists apiece for Pfeiffer. Game Statistics Season Statistics
