Barton Shuts Down Lady Trojans, 63-40

WILSON, N.C. - Barton jumped out to a 20-2 lead in the first seven minutes of the game and limited Anderson College to season lows in points and field-goal percentage on its way to a 63-40 victory over the Lady Trojans in a CVAC women's game Saturday night. Barton, 9-10 overall and 6-7 in the CVAC, was led by Kelly Lamotta with 16 points and 17 rebounds and Adrienne Walker with 15 points. The loss drops Anderson to 11-9, 8-5. Anderson, which shot a season low 28 percent from the field, was led by Deanna Thompson with 14 points. Thompson was the lone Lady Trojan in double figures. Leann Segers, AC's leading scorer at 17.5 points per game entering the Barton contest, made just 2 of 19 shots from the field and just 2 of 11 from behind the arc. As a team, AC made just 3 of 26 from behind the arc. The game was decided in the first seven minutes. AC committed seven turnovers and scored just one field goal in the first seven minutes of the game. The Lady Bulldogs took full advantage of AC's struggles and bolted to a 20-2 lead. The Lady Trojans got no closer than 14 points the rest of the way. Barton led 43-22 at the half and its largest lead of 25 - 63-38 - came with 17 seconds remaining in the game. Led by Lamotta's 17 boards, the Lady Bulldogs won the glass, 42-36. Barton was 16 of 21 from the free throw line, while AC was just 5 for 8. Game Statistics Season Statistics
