Trojans Snap Streak, Sweep Limestone

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson College relief pitcher Adam Dymond struck out Limestone's Darius Pullen with the tying run on third base to give the Trojans a 6-5 victory and a sweep of a CVAC doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Anderson Memorial Stadium. In the first game, Jason Ratliff drove in four runs and John Mac White and Jonathan Pitts drove in two runs apiece to lead Anderson to a 10-5 victory. The sweep snaps a seven-game losing streak for the Trojans, 8-20 overall and 2-8 in the CVAC. Limestone is now 17-14, 3-8. Limestone scored three runs in the third inning of the first game to cut Anderson's lead to 4-3, but the Trojans scored two runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth to take a 10-3 lead. Ratliff had a two-run single in the fourth, and Mac White had RBI doubles in both the fifth and the sixth. Anderson starter Brett Youngblood gave up five runs and 12 hits in 6 1/3 innings. Reliever Will Cheatham allowed just one hit in 2 2/3 innings to seal the victory. Ratliff was 3-for-5 in the first game for the Trojans. Pullen had four of Limestone's 13 hits in the first game. In the second game, Limestone jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the second. Three singles loaded the bases for the Saints then B.J. Bowling provided a run-scoring single. After a wild pitch brought home Jimmy Turner with the second run, Travis Clary hit a sacrifice fly to score Will Long with the third run of the inning. Anderson took a 4-3 lead in the fourth on a two-run homer by Mac White, a two-out triple by Caleb Owen, and a run-scoring double by Jared Taylor. The Trojans increased their lead to 6-4 in the fifth on a two-run homer by Kyle Lewis. In the Limestone seventh, Long led off with a solo home run to slice Anderson's lead to 6-5. After two ground outs, Clary and Matt Craig both reached on errors to knock out Anderson starter Desmond Robeson, who allowed five earned runs and eight hits in 6 2/3 innings. Dymond entered and struck out Pullen on a 2-2 pitch to end the game.
