Catawba Powers Its Way Past Anderson, 13-7

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Matt Baker hit a grand slam and Jimbo Davis had a three-run homer and a solo shot to lead Catawba to a 13-7 non-conference victory over Anderson College Thursday afternoon. The Indians, 17-9 overall, jumped on Anderson for seven runs in the first inning. Davis' three-run homer was the big hit of the inning. Catawba added four more runs in the third to take an 11-0 lead. Anderson got four runs back in the fourth on a grand slam home run by Justin Sterling. Brian Cato and Caleb Owen had two hits apiece for the Trojans, 6-16. Catawba starting pitcher Paul Link struck out seven and walked two in 6 2/3 innings. Anderson travels to Coker this weekend for a three-game CVAC series.
