CVAC Graduation Rates In Line With Average

THOMASVILLE, N.C. -- The Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference average student-athlete graduation rate of 52.5% for the 200203 academic year reflected closely the NCAA Division II average of 52%, the conference office announced Friday. Five of the conference members were above the national average. Queens University of Charlotte at 73% and Erskine College with 72% led the way, while Coker College (63%), St. Andrews Presbyterian College (62%) and Longwood University (61%) all were well above the national average. The graduation rate for student-athletes tracks all scholarship athletes entering college in the 1996-97 year. An athlete who transfers and graduates from another college is not counted as a graduate for the initial school. In comparison the graduation rate for the same year for all entering students at Division II schools was 45%.
