Chiles, Langston Named To East Region Team

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson University had two players named to the Daktronics Division II East Region team Wednesday. Junior guard LaShonda Chiles was named to the first team for the second straight year, and junior foward Deidra Langston was named to the second team. Chiles, a native of Greenwood, S.C., is second in the country in scoring at 23.5 points per game. Chiles has scored in double figures in 75 straight games and has scored 20 or more points in 21 games this season. She has scored 30 or more points in Anderson's last 10 games. In addition to scoring, Chiles leads Anderson in 3-point goals made (81), assists (144), and steals (82). Chiles is a three-time All-CVAC first team pick and a three-time CVAC Tournament MVP. Chiles has scored 2,106 points in her three seasons at Anderson. The other members of the first team are Denae Dobbins and Rachel Redick of Glenville State, Lisa Lee of Charleston (W.Va.) and Keauna Vinson of Barton. Lee was named the East Region Player of the Year. All members of the first team will be placed on the Daktronics All-America ballot. Langston, a native of Gainesville, Ga., is averaging 18.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game this season. Langston scored in double figures in 24 games. She scored a career-high 40 points and pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds against Limestone on Feb. 16. Langston is shooting .536 from the field and .804 from the line. She leads the team in free throws made (152). Other members of the second team were Callie Iorfido of Edinboro, Kim Nowakowski of California (Pa.), Shanna Oaddams of Shippensburg, Ashley Reed of Fairmont State, and Nicole Woods of Belmont Abbey.
