Langston, Chiles Power Anderson Past Limestone

ANDERSON, S.C. - Deidra Langston scored a career-high 40 points and pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds and LaShonda Chiles scored 33 points to lead Anderson University to a 97-74 victory over Limestone Thursday night at the Abney Center. Anderson, 20-4 overall and 15-2 in the CVAC, won its 20th game for the third consecutive season. In the last three seasons, the Lady Trojans, ranked No. 3 in the East Region, are 78-14. The loss drops Limestone to 9-14, 6-10. Langston, a junior from Gainesville, Ga., was 15-for-26 from the field, 10-for-13 from the line, and also had four steals. Chiles, a junior from Greenwood, S.C., also had six assists and four steals. Langston's 40 points increased her career total to 1,322, while Chiles moved within 46 points of 2,000 for her career. Limestone took the lead at the 7:55 mark of the first half and built a 10-point lead - 40-30 - with 3:31 remaining. Limestone's largest lead of the first half was 43-32 at the 3:06 mark. The Lady Saints shot 55 percent in the first half and made 7 of 11 shots from behind the arc. Limestone continued to lead until the 8:14 mark of the second half when a 3-point goal by Chiles gave Anderson a 63-62 lead. After a tie at 67 at the 6:27 mark, Anderson went on a 28-5 run to end Limestone's upset bid. Langston scored 10 points during the decisive run. Limestone was led by Danielle Vieira with 15 points and Melissa DeVore with 14. Anderson shot 50 percent in the second half to finish the game at 41 percent. Limestone cooled off to 32 percent in the second half to finish the game at 45 percent. Led by Langston and Latrice Thomas, who finished with 10 rebounds, Anderson dominated the boards, 52-36. Anderson scored 39 points off 23 Limestone turnovers. The Lady Trojans committed just nine turnovers. Anderson averaged 1.23 points per possession and scored 90 or more points for the sixth time this season and the fourth time in its last six games.
