Anderson Women Suffocate Pfeiffer, 81-37

ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson University limited Pfeiffer to 20 percent from the field and just 11 points in the second half to beat the Falcons 81-37 in a CVAC women's game Saturday afternoon at the Abney Center. Anderson, 11-3 overall and 7-1 in the CVAC, has won nine of its last 10. The loss drops Pfeiffer to 7-8, 3-5. Anderson placed four players in double figures. Keana Boyd led the way with 18 points. She was followed by Deidra Langston with 15 points, Latrice Thomas with 14 points, and LaShonda Chiles with 13. Langston, a junior from Gainesville, Ga., also had a game-high 12 rebounds and four of Anderson's 13 steals. Chiles, who played just 11 minutes in the first half because of two offensive fouls, had to rally in the second half to keep her double-figure scoring streak alive. She has now score in double figures in 59 straight games. Erin Crowder was the lone Pfeiffer player in double figures with 13 points. The game was tied four times in the first 11 and a half minutes before Anderson put together a 10-0 run for a 32-22 lead with 5:12 to play. The Lady Trojans never trailed again. Anderson led 40-26 at the half and opened up the second half with a 30-5 run to seize a 70-31 lead with 5:30 to play. Pfeiffer made just five baskets in the second half and shot just 17 percent from the field. Pfeiffer's 37 points is a new season low for an Anderson opponent. The previous low was 59 points by Belmont Abbey on Jan. 5. Anderson shot 45 percent from the field and 75 percent (27-36) from the free throw line. The Lady Trojans have made 20 or more free throws in their last six games.
