ANDERSON, S.C. -- LaShonda Chiles scored 30 points and Deidra Langston tallied 28 to lead Anderson University to a 101-83 victory over Limestone College in the quarterfinals of the CVAC Tournament Wednesday night at the Abney Center. Anderson, 24-4 overall, advances to Friday's semifinal round to face Pfeiffer, an 87-75 winner over Belmont Abbey. Limestone ends its season at 12-17. Chiles, a junior from Greenwood, S.C., was 11-for-21 from the floor and made four 3-point goals. She also had nine of Anderson's 25 assists and five of Anderson's 17 steals. Chiles, the nation's second-leading scorer, has scored 30 or more points in four of Anderson's last eight games. Langston, a junior from Gainesville, Ga., was 10-for-18 from the floor, 8-for-10 from the free throw line, and also had six rebounds. Latrice Thomas added 13 points for Anderson, while Keana Boyd chipped in 10 for the Lady Trojans. Limestone also had four players in double figures. Tiffany Jones led the Lady Saints with 26 points. She was followed by Melissa DeVore with 22, Reagan Robbins with 12, and Danielle Vieira with 10. Jones also was the game's leading rebounder with 10. Anderson's pressure defense forced 25 turnovers which led to 43 points. Anderson has reached 100 points in its last two games and a total of five times this season. The Lady Trojans are second in scoring offense in this week's NCAA Division II statistics at 84.0 points per game. The Lady Trojans used a 22-6 run to jump out to a 26-11 lead in the first seven minutes of the game. But Limestone bounced back with a 14-2 run to cut the Anderson lead to 28-25 with 9:19 remaining in the first half. DeVore led the Lady Saint run with seven points. A 3-point basket by Boyd with five seconds remaining in the first half gave Anderson a 50-39 lead at the break. The Lady Trojans opened the second half with a barrage of 3-point goals -- five in the first four minutes -- to pull out to a 69-45 lead. Chiles made three of the treys, and Mikala Fogle-Wilson and Thomas made one apiece. But Limestone didn't fold. The Lady Saints whittled the Anderson lead to 13 points -- 81-68 -- with 8:18 remaining. From that point, the Lady Trojans went on a 10-0 run to pump their lead back to 23 -- 91-68 -- with 6:24 to play. Langston scored five of the 10 points during the run. A field goal by Kimberly Williams pushed Anderson over the century mark with 1:16 remaining. Anderson shot 52 percent in the second half to finish the game at 48 percent. After shooting 55 percent in the first half, Limestone cooled to 41 percent in the second half to finish the game at 48 percent.
