Champs Again! Lady Trojans Win Another CVAC Crown

MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- LaShonda Chiles scored 32 points, Deidra Langston scored 25 and Anderson University shot 57 percent from the field to beat Pfeiffer University 106-69 in a women's CVAC game Saturday night. With the victory, Anderson (23-4, 18-2), ranked No. 3 in the East Region, clinches its second straight CVAC regular-season title. In the last three seasons, the Lady Trojans are 81-14 and have won two CVAC regular-season titles and two CVAC tournament titles. Chiles, a junior from Greenwood, S.C., was 10-for-16 from the field and 6-for-6 from behind the arc. Langston, a junior from Gainesville, Ga., was 12-for-18 from the field and pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. Anderson's 106 points tied its season high. The Lady Trojans also scored 106 against Lees-McRae on Feb. 2. Anderson has scored 100 or more points four times this season and has scored 90 or more points seven times in its last 13 games. Anderson took control of the game early. After two ties, the Lady Trojans steadily built their lead. Their largest lead of the first half was 27 -- 54-27 -- with 1:25 left in the half. Their largest lead of the game was 40 -- 100-60 -- with 4:44 remaining. Anderson made 34 of 60 shots from the field and 30 of 37 from the free throw line. Following Chiles and Langston for Anderson were Mikala Fogle-Wilson with 12 points, Latrice Thomas with 11 points, and Keana Boyd with 10 points. On the defensive end, the Lady Trojans shut down the Falcons. Pfeiffer (13-14, 11-9) shot just 29 percent in the first half and 31 percent from the game. Led by Langston, Anderson won the boards, 47-34. Anderson opens play in the CVAC Tournament at home Wednesday at 7 p.m. The semifinals and finals of the tournament will be played at Mount Olive, N.C., Friday and Saturday.
