ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson University dominated the second half to beat Mount Olive 79-54 in a CVAC women's game Saturday afternoon at the Abney Center. Anderson, 17-3 overall and 13-1 in the CVAC, led by just five - 38-33 - at the half. But the second half was a different story. Anderson outscored Mount Olive 32-7 during a 12-minute span and limited the visiting Trojans to 24 percent shooting from the field to take control of the game. Anderson, ranked No. 4 in the East Region, was led by Deidra Langston with 21 points and seven steals. Langston scored 11 of the 32 points during the run that started at the 18:06 mark and ended with just under six minutes remaining. A field goal by Tomeka Prichard cut Anderson's lead to 40-38 with 18:22 to play. But from that point, Anderson took off and never looked back. Two free throws by LaShonda Chiles increased Anderson's lead to double digits for the first time - 52-41 - with 14:36 left. Two free throws by Langston at the 7:54 mark pushed Anderson's lead to 20 - 65-45. Following Langston for Anderson were Latrice Thomas with 18, Chiles with 17 points and five assists, and Mikala Fogle-Wilson with 13 points. Chiles, a junior from Greenwood, S.C., has scored in double figures in 65 consecutive games. Langston, a junior from Gainesville, Ga., was 8-for-13 from the field and 5-for-5 from the free throw line. Teneal Boone was the lone Mount Olive player in double figures with 13 points. Anderson, which has won seven straight and 15 of 16, scored 29 points off 26 Mount Olive turnovers. Anderson shot 48 percent in both halves, but the home-standing Lady Trojans struggled from behind the arc, making just 2 of 15. Anderson was 19-for-22 from the free throw line.
