Pederson Announces The Addition Of Two Players

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson College head women's basketball coach Kevin Pederson announced the signing of two players -- Latrice Thomas of Graniteville, S.C., and Haley Riffle of Tybee Island, Ga. -- Thursday afternoon. Thomas was an all-star player at North Augusta High School. "We're very excited to have Latrice sign to play at Anderson College," Pederson said. "She is a very versatile and athletic player who can cause mismatches all over the court. Her ability to shoot from outside and finish inside make her a great fit for our uptempo style of play. She comes from a very good North Augusta team where Coach (Faye) Norris has done a great job with her. Latrice knows what it takes to win and she will be a great asset to our program." Thomas, a 5-9 forward, averaged 15 points, five rebounds, and three steals per game for North Augusta. She was an all-state and all-region selection, and she played in the North-South Game. Thomas was named the Player of Year by both the Aiken Standard and the Augusta Chronicle. Riffle comes to Anderson from Johnson High School in the Savannah, Ga., area where she was a star player and honor student. "Haley is a great addition to our AC basketball family," Pederson said. "She gives us size, hard work, and a determination to help bring Anderson College to the next level. She is exactly what you look for in the recruiting process, an intelligent student athlete that excels on and off the court in all she does." Riffle, a 6-foot-2 post, averaged 14 points and eight rebounds per game as a senior. She played in the North-South All-Star game, and she will graduate from Johnson with honors. Anderson, 25-7 overall last season, led the nation in scoring at 85 points per game and reached the second round of the NCAA Division II Tournament.
