Hausman, Chiles Gun Anderson Past Queens, 89-75

ANDERSON, S.C. - LaShonda Chiles and Kim Hausman combined for 15 3-point goals to lead Anderson College to an 89-75 CVAC victory over Queens University of Charlotte Sunday afternoon at the Abney Center. Anderson, 21-6 overall and 16-4 in the CVAC, has now won nine straight and is 18-0 when it scores 80 or more points. The 21 victories marks the most successful regular season in the history of the four-year program. Anderson finishes the regular season 11-1 at home. The Lady Trojans, ranked ninth in this week's East Region poll, had a tough time shaking the Royals, 8-19, 5-15. Queens committed 19 turnovers in the first half but still led 40-39 at the break. There were 10 lead changes and three ties in the first half. The largest lead for either team in the first half was six points by Anderson - 31-25 with 3:14 left. But in the second half, Hausman and Chiles went to work. With AC trailing 47-45 with 15:32 remaining in the game, they went on a tear. In the next 11 minutes, Hausman made six treys and Chiles made four. When the outburst was over, Anderson had an 80-70 lead with 4:27 to play. Queens got no closer than nine points in the final 4:03. Chiles, a freshman from Greenwood, S.C., led Anderson with a career-high 34 points. She was 7-for-12 from behind the arc and also had five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Hausman, a freshman from Watkinsville, Ga., finished with a career-high 26 points in just 26 minutes. She was 8-for-14 from behind the arc and also contributed five rebounds, five assists, and six steals. She was one off the school record for 3-point goals in a single game. Leann Segers made nine 3-point goals against North Greenville on Dec. 12, 2002. Deidra Langston chipped in 11 points for Anderson. Queens was led by Sarah Newman with 16 points, Maggie Austin and Tiffany Adkins with 13 apiece, and Kellie Joplin with 12. From the floor, Anderson shot 39 percent but the Lady Trojans shot 48 percent (16-33) from behind the arc. Queens shot 41 percent from the field. Joplin had a game-high 10 rebounds as Queens won the boards, 50-42. Queens suffered 33 turnovers and Anderson had a single-game record 22 steals. Anderson scored 40 points off turnovers.
