Lady Trojans Run Past Limestone, 119-69

ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson College set a single-game school record for points in a 119-69 rout of Limestone in a CVAC game Monday night at the Abney Center. The Lady Trojans, 16-6 overall and 11-4 in the CVAC, shot 61 percent for the game and had a single-game record 51 field goals. Anderson led 58-39 at the half and reached the century mark for the fourth time this season with 5:05 remaining in the game. The previous Anderson high for points in a game was 112 - St. Andrews on Jan. 20, 2003 and Limestone Jan. 24, 2004. The previous record for field goals -- 46 -- was set against Limestone in that Jan. 24 game. Anderson also had a single-game record for assists with 35. The previous record was 31 against Allen on Jan. 6, 2003. Six Lady Trojans scored in double figures. Denver Murray came off the bench to score 17 points in 11 minutes to lead AC. She was followed by Deanna Thompson with 16 points and 13 assists, Shemika Reed with 15 points, and LaShonda Chiles, Decole Shoemate, and Stephanie Ponds with 14 points apiece. Murray, a freshman from Charleston, S.C., was 7-for-8 from the field, 1-for-1 from behind the arc, and 2-for-3 from the line. Anderson tied a school record for steals with 19. Thompson and Chiles had six steals apiece. Anderson scored 41 points off 32 Limestone turnovers, and AC's bench outscored the Limestone bench, 52-14. The Lady Trojans dominated the glass, 48-37. Thompson and Deidra Langston had seven rebounds apiece to lead Anderson. Limestone's Laura Knapp was the game's leading rebounder with 13. The victory gave AC a sweep of the two regular-season meetings between the two schools. AC scored 231 points in its two games against Limestone this season. Limestone, 3-18 and 2-13, was led by Shell Lowrance with a game-high 23 points. Kelly Tarr added 15 for the Saints, who shot just 26 percent from the field and 31 percent for the game.
