Softball Team Sweeps Away SWU

CENTRAL, S.C. -- Kristen Price hit a home run and scored the winning run on a collision at home plate in the sixth inning to lead Anderson to a 4-3 victory over Southern Wesleyan and a sweep of the Warriors Tuesday night. In the first game, Anderson scored two runs in the second and two runs in the third and rode the pitching of Lauren Powell for a 4-1 victory. Powell struck out 12 to pick up her 14th victory of the season. Katie Howard and Price both had RBI singles for Anderson in the first game. Price was the hero in the second game. She belted her fourth home run of the season in the second inning. Then in the sixth, she reached on a walk to load the bases then scored the winning run on a hit by Carolyn Smith. Angela Hauff and Caroline Rochester scored in front of Price, then Price brought home the winning run by running over the catcher. Anderson, now 26-20 overall, visits Limestone Wednesday.
