Longwood Dominates Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Longwood collected 21 hits, including four home runs, in two games on its way to a sweep of Anderson College in a CVAC softball doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Smethers Field. In the first game, Jennifer Potts had three doubles and four RBI and Shamana Washington and Becca Walker both hit two-run homers to lead the Lancers to an 8-0 victory. Longwood pitcher Jennifer Steele allowed just two hits in seven innings to pick up the victory. In the second game, Washington hit a two-run homer in the second inning and Angie Burnette hit a solo homer in the fourth as the Lancers completed the sweep with a 5-1 victory. Potts scattered six hits and surrendered just one unearned run to earn the victory in the second game. The sweep improves Longwood to 22-4 overall and 9-1 in the CVAC, while Anderson, which lost three of four during a weekend home stand, falls to 21-17, 5-6.
