Trojans Get Home Game In First Round

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Needing just one victory in its final three games to tie Anderson College and get a first-round home game in the CVAC Tournament, St. Andrews could not pull it off. The Knights lost to Erskine 69-63 Saturday night to finish in ninth place, one game behind Anderson. St. Andrews (12-15) will travel to Anderson (9-17) Monday for a 7 p.m. game at the Abney Center. The winner will travel to face No. 1 Pfeiffer in Wednesday's second round. A tie with Anderson would have given St. Andrews a home game because the Knights beat the Trojans twice during the regular season -- 94-87 in triple overtime at Laurinburg, N.C., on Jan. 15 and 61-56 at Anderson on Feb. 12. The Trojans have lost six straight entering the tournament, but three of the losses were to the league's top two teams -- two to Pfeiffer and one to Mount Olive. Anderson is led by senior Osvaldo Haynes, who is averaging 12.7 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. Sophomore John LeSueur is Anderson's best outside shooter. LeSueur has made 63 of 130 shots from behind the arc (.483).
