HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- Randy Javois, Osvaldo Haynes, and Odin Palacio combined for 37 points and 23 rebounds to lead Anderson College to a 69-64 victory over Coker in a CVAC men's game Saturday afternoon. The Trojans shot 64 percent from the field for the game by pounding the ball inside to Javois, Haynes and Palacio. The victory snaps a three-game losing streak for Anderson and improves the Trojans to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the CVAC. The loss drops Coker to 1-3, 0-1. Javois, a junior from Augilla, West Indies, led Anderson with 19 points and nine rebounds before fouling out in 22 minutes of play. Palacio contributed 10 points and eight boards, and Haynes had eight points and six rebounds. Alfred Boykin added nine points and Chris Poore totaled eight points and five rebounds for the Trojans. Coker's Jay Farrow led all scorers with 21 points and had three assists. Vance Carawa had 10 points and Jamie Jenkins finished with nine. The Cobras started the game well and eventually grabbed a 23-15 lead with six minutes left in the first period. But at that point, Javois took over the game and Coker went into a long offensive dry spell. The 6-foot-6, 325-pound Javois scored eight straight points to tie the contest at 23-23. Following a pair of free throws by sophomore Abram Ludd, Anderson tied the game and never trailed again. For a span of 10:19 at the end of the first half and beginning of the second, Coker scored only four points while the Trojans poured in 25. At the end of the dry spell, the Cobras trailed 40-27. But Coker closed the gap back to nine points with 14:11 to play. As Coker struggled to put points on the board, Anderson ran relentlessly pounded the ball inside for easy buckets. The Cobras trailed 60-42 with 4:50 to play but finally found their stroke again. Coker outscored Anderson 22-9 the rest of the way, using a full-court press to create some turnovers and also taking advantage of the visitors' poor foul shooting. Anderson converted only 5-12 free throws in the final minutes of the game. Coker suffered a season-low nine turnovers, but Anderson dominated the boards, 42-20.
