Barton's Threes Too Much For AC

WILSON, N.C. -- Barton made 14 of 21 shots from behind the arc on its way to an 84-66 victory over Anderson College in a CVAC game Saturday night. Barton, 12-7 overall and 8-4 in the CVAC, was led by Casey Moore, who was 5-for-9 from behind the arc, with 28 points. Ervin Gregory (5-for-7 from behind the arc) added 17 points and Jacoby Key scored 13 for the Bulldogs. Anderson, 7-11 and 5-7, was led by Osvaldo Haynes with 18 points and 16 rebounds. Alfred Boykin chipped in 15 for the for the Trojans. Haynes, a 6-foot-7 senior from Greenwood, S.C., has pulled down 86 rebounds in Anderson's last six games. Barton outscored Anderson from behind the arc, 42-9. Anderson jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first two minutes of the game, but Barton put together a 17-7 run for a 17-15 lead with 13:41 remaining in the first half. The Bulldogs never trailed again. A 3-point goal by Moore with two seconds remaining in the first half gave the Bulldogs a 44-37 lead at the break. A trey by Gregory stretched Barton's lead to 64-51 with 10:06 to play. Anderson never got closer than 10 points in the final 10 minutes. Barton shot 53 percent from the field, 67 percent from behind the arc. Anderson shot just 34 percent from the field and made just 11 of 36 shots (31 percent) in the second half. Barton had 23 assists on 30 baskets. Moore had eight of the 30 assists.
