Men's Basketball Team Adds Fifth Signee

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Jarret Johnson, a guard from Greensboro, N.C., has signed a grant-in-aid with Anderson University, AU head men's basketball coach Jason Taylor announced Monday. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Johnson will join the Trojans as a freshman this fall. Johnson graduated from Ragsdale High School in 2006. During his senior year he averaged 14 points and six rebounds per game and was named to the All-Conference, All-Guilford Area and honorable mention All-State teams. Johnson spent last season prepping at The Patterson School where he played for head coach Ryan Freeburg. He averaged 8.5 points per game while playing against some of the best prep school talent in the country. "We are excited about having Jarret join our program," Taylor said. "Jarret completes what I think will be a very exciting recruiting class for our team. Jarret has the ability to be a complete guard in our league. He is a strong defender, an exceptional athlete, and a good scorer. "Jarret will be battle tested coming in as a freshman from one of the best prep schools in the country. I have not seen many players that are as vertically gifted as Jarret. I am excited about coaching him and aiding in his development as a complete student-athlete." Johnson joins Kevis Cornwell, Brandon Young, Stephen Cobb and Trey Britton as Taylor's first signing class. "I expect these five players to have an immediate impact on our program," Taylor said.
