Hot Second Half Gets Pfeiffer Past Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. - Pfeiffer shot 61 percent from the field in the second half on its way to an 87-80 victory over Anderson University in a men's CVAC game Thursday night at the Abney Center. Pfeiffer, 13-2 overall and 7-1 in the CVAC, led 43-36 at the half and built a 19-point lead in the second half. But a late rally by Anderson, 2-12 and 2-6, cut the final deficit under double digits. Both teams scored 44 points in the second half. Pfeiffer made 17 of its 28 field goal attempts in the second half. The Falcons were led by Taveres Cooper and Logan Call with 15 points apiece. Thomas Carr added 12, and DeMario Grier and Robert McGriff added 10 points apiece. Anderson also placed five players in double figures. Kris Fudzinskas led the Trojans with 19 points off the bench. J.R. Howell scored 18, Nathan Russell tallied 15, Joshua Beale added 14, and Drew Keenan chipped in 11. Anderson had 54 points in the paint to Pfeiffer's 26, but the Falcons outscored the Trojans from behind the arc, 30-12. Anderson won the boards, 40-32. Cooper was the game's leading rebounder with 11. Beale led Anderson with a career-high 10 rebounds. Pfeiffer finished the game at 52 percent from the field, while Anderson shot 44 percent.
