Trojans Rout St. Andrews Presbyterian

ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson University limited St. Andrews Presbyterian to 27 percent from the field and outscored to Knights 34-18 in the second half on its way to a 69-48 CVAC victory Saturday afternoon at the Abney Center. Anderson, 2-8 overall and 2-2 in the CVAC, snapped a three-game losing streak by shooting 60 percent in both halves. The Trojans were 12-for-20 from the field in the first half and 15-for-25 from the field in the second half. Anderson was led by freshman Levi Ashworth with a career-high 15 points. Ashworth, a 6-foot-10 native of Kingsport, Tenn., was 7-for-11 from the field, including one 3-point goal, pulled down a game-high eight rebounds, and had three steals. John LeSueur and B.J. Ware added 12 points apiece for the Trojans. St. Andrews did not have a player in double figures. Keith Josey led the Knights with nine points. The Knights made just nine field goals in the first half and six field goals in the second half. St. Andrews shot 32 percent in the first half and just 22 percent in the second half. The previous low by an Anderson opponent was 38 percent by Belmont Abbey on Dec. 2. Anderson led 35-30 at the half. The Trojans went on an 18-6 run in the first 10 minutes of the second half to open up a 53-37 lead. A layup by Kris Fudzinskas gave Anderson its first 20-point lead of the game - 62-42 - with 4:57 remaining. Anderson's largest lead was 67-44 with 1:52 to play.
