Mount Olive Overwhelms AU

ANDERSON, S.C. - Mount Olive shot 53 percent from the field, 57 percent in the second half, and forced 27 turnovers on its way to a 97-57 victory over Anderson University in a CVAC game Saturday afternoon at the Abney Center. Mount Olive, 12-5 overall and 6-4 in the CVAC, outscored Anderson 32-9 in the final 10:40 of the first half to take a 50-27 lead at the break. In the second half, Mount Olive steadily built its lead. The largest lead of the game was 42 - 97-55 - with 1:17 remaining. The visiting Trojans placed five players in double figures. Elton Coffield came off the bench to score a game-high 21 points in 25 minutes. He was followed by Brandon Streeter with 19, Elijah Rouse with 15 points and six steals, and Kendrick Easley and Mike Holloman with 10 points apiece. Coffield was 6-for-11 from the field and 8-for-10 from the free throw line. He also had four of Mount Olive's 14 steals. The lone Anderson player in double figures was J.R. Howell with 16. Mount Olive scored 32 points off Anderson's 27 turnovers and outscored AU in the paint, 40-22. Anderson, 2-13 and 2-7, has now lost five straight and eight of its last nine. Box: Mt.
