DUE WEST, S.C. -- Erskine shot a blistering 78 percent from 3-point range (14-18) and 62 percent from the field on its way to a 95-75 victory over Anderson University in the first round of the 2007 CVAC Tournament Monday night at the Galloway Center. Erskine, 14-14 overall, advances at Queens University of Charlotte on Wednesday. Anderson's season ends at 4-24. After shooting 52 percent from the field in the first half, Erskine led 39-35 at the break. The Flying Fleet opened the second half with a 34-10 run in the first eight and a half minutes for a 73-45 lead. Erskine made six 3-point goals during the run, and Brandon Wright capped the run with a four-point play. Erskine shot 69 percent from the field (20-29) in the second half. Anderson shot 47 percent in both halves. Craig Williams led Erskine with 27 points. Williams was 10-for-18 from the field and had a game-high 11 rebounds. T.J. Taylor, who was 5-for-5 from behind the arc, added 23 points for the Fleet. Wright (3 3-point goals) and Matt Odom (4 3-point goals) finished with 17 points and 15 points, respectively for the Fleet. Anderson was led by Nathan Russell with 18 points. He was followed by J.R. Howell with 14 points and Drew Keenan with 12. Taylor had five of Erskine's 22 assists.
