ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson University men's head basketball coach Jason Taylor announced the signing of Trey Britton and Stephen Cobb to national letters of intent Friday afternoon. Britton, a 6-foot-6 200-pound wing/forward from Alpharetta, Ga., joins the AU program following a standout year at South Forsyth High School, where he played for head coach David Sokol. Britton averaged 10 points and seven rebounds per game as a senior and was named to the 7AAAAA All-Region second team. "We got a steal with Trey," Taylor said. "It is scary how good this young man can be on the court. He is extremely long, with a good feel of how to play the game. Combine that with his rim-level athleticism and you have the makings of a great player. He played in the post for Coach Sokol; however, he will eventually become a perimeter player for us with the ability to play in the post. The sky is the limit for Trey." Cobb, a 6-5, 195-pound wing athlete from Raleigh, N.C., comes to Anderson University after a great career at Enloe High School where he played for head coach Tommy Moore. As a senior, Cobb averaged 13.8 points and seven rebounds per game and posted season highs of 37 points and 12 rebounds. He was named to the CAP 7 All-Conference Team. He also was awarded his teams' most outstanding player award. "Stephen's ability to play above the rim will make him an instant crowd favorite," Taylor said. "He is Mr. Versatility in that he can play on the perimeter as well as in the paint area. Stephen has a great attitude and will do whatever is asked of him to help his team win. He has been well coached under Coach Moore and his best basketball is ahead of him. "We're continuing to improve the talent level of our team with incoming freshmen. Both of these players will help give us a dimension to our team that we have not had. They are both long and athletic swing men who will be effective in the post and on the perimeter. This is turning into an outstanding class for our fans and our future. We're extremely excited these two young men have selected Anderson University to continue there playing careers while obtaining a first-class education." Britton and Cobb join Brandon Young and Kevis Cornwell in the Trojan's 2007 recruiting class.
