DUE WEST, S.C. -- Drew Keenan made two free throws with 3.5 seconds remaining to cap a late Anderson University rally and give the Trojans a 56-53 victory over Erskine Monday night at the Belk Arena. Anderson, 3-17 overall and 3-10 in the CVAC, snapped a nine-game losing streak and picked up 1.5 points in the Anderson-Erskine Cup competition. The loss drops Erskine to 8-12, 5-9. "I'm extremely happy and really proud of my guys," said Anderson head coach Jason Taylor. "They have continued to work and play hard. Erskine missed some shots and we were fortunate they had an off shooting night, but we'll take it." Anderson trailed 50-44 with 5:11 remaining. A field goal by Kris Fudzinskas at 4:49 and a 3-point goal by J.R. Howell at 4:21 cut the Erskine lead to 50-49. After the two teams traded baskets and Victor Street Jr. made one free throw for the Fleet, Nathan Russell converted a three-play with 2:02 remaining to give the Trojans a 54-53 lead. Street's free throw at the 2:14 mark was the last point Erskine scored in the game. Erskine missed five 3-point attempts in the final 90 seconds. Fudzinskas was the lone Anderson player in double figures with 10 points. Russell, Howell, and Drew Keenan all finished the game with nine points apiece. "Drew really gave us a lift off the bench," Taylor said. "He's gotten better on the defensive end. He's the type of player you've got to find minutes for." Playing with a broken left wrist, Erskine's Craig Williams led all scorers with 15 points. Brandon Wright added 10 for the Fleet. Anderson shot 60 percent (15-25) in the second half to finish the game at 46 percent. Erskine shot 33 percent from the field. Anderson won the boards, 38-30. Anderson's Josh Beale had a game-high eight rebounds. Russell had six of Anderson's nine assists. Box: Anderson 56, Erskine 53 Anderson University Men's Basketball Statistics
