ANDERSON, S.C. - Lees-McRae put together a decisive 17-4 late in the second half on its way to a 74-66 victory over Anderson University Monday night at the Abney Center. Lees-McRae, 4-13 overall and 3-8 in the CVAC, trailed 32-31 at the half. But the Bobcats held the Trojans scoreless in the first five minutes of the second half to pull out to a 40-32 lead. After Anderson got within two - 44-42 - with 9:24 remaining, Lees-McRae went on its run to seize a 61-46 lead with 4:03 to play. Stephen Haymer made six free throws and Aaron Dugger made a field goal and a 3-point basket during the run. Anderson, 2-16 and 2-10, got no closer than six points the rest of the way. The Bobcats placed four players in double figures. Blake Carr led the way with 18 points. Carr was 4-for-5 from behind the arc. He was followed by Haymer with 17, Dugger with 15, and Henry Williams with 10. Anderson's leading scorer was Levi Ashworth with 16. J.R. Howell added 15, and John LeSueur chipped in 13 for the Trojans. No Lees-McRae player had more than five rebounds, but the Bobcats won the boards, 33-25. Lees-McRae shot 49 percent from the field, 56 percent in the second half, while Anderson shot 46 percent. The Bobcats were 30-for-39 from the free throw line.
