ANDERSON, S.C. - The No. 24 Anderson University Lady Trojans used a late 14-4 run to build a 10-point lead then held on for a 71-69 victory over Mount Olive Saturday afternoon at the Abney Center. With the game tied at 53, the 11th tie of the game, Anderson finally managed to create some breathing room. Four free throws, two baskets by Keana Boyd and one basket by Deidra Langston gave Anderson a 63-53 lead with 2:20 remaining. From that point, Mount Olive made one final push. Starting at the 1:07 mark, Mount Olive outscored Anderson 10-4 to cut the AU lead to 70-67 with 15 seconds remaining. Tomeka Prichard made two 3-point goals to fuel the Mount Olive rally. A single free throw by Boyd with 10 seconds remaining finally sealed the deal for Anderson. The largest lead for either team in the first half was six points. Anderson outscored Mount Olive 8-3 in the final 2:18 of the first half to take a 31-20 lead at halftime. There were 11 ties and seven lead changes in the game. Anderson, 13-2 overall and 8-1 in the CVAC, was led by Langston with 19 points. Boyd tallied 15, Latrice Thomas scored 12, and Mikala Fogle-Wilson chipped in 10. Led by Langston's game-high 10 rebounds, seven off the offensive glass, Anderson won the boards, 39-33. Prichard and Sierra Medeiros led Mount Olive with 16 points apiece. Helen Moore and Alisa Jones added 10 points apiece for the visiting Trojans. Anderson outscored Mount Olive by 21 points at the free throw line and had 22 second-effort points to Mount Olive's four. Mount Olive, 7-9 and 4-6, shot 55 percent in the second half and 54 percent for the game. Anderson shot just 41 percent and was 0-for-11 from behind arc.
