BANNER ELK, N.C. -- Anderson University opened the game with a 23-6 run and went on to post a 67-49 victory over Lees-McRae in a CVAC women's game Tuesday night at the Williams Gym. Anderson, 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the CVAC, was led by Latrice Thomas with 18 points. Thomas was 8-for-12 from the field and also had six rebounds and three steals. Following Thomas for Anderson were Mikala Fogle-Wilson with 14, Deidra Langston with 11, and Keana Boyd with 10. Anderson shot just 33 percent from the field but used a strong man-to-man defense and traps to limit Lees-McRae to just 26 percent. The Bobcats made just 16 of 61 shots from the field. Stephanie Mullinax was the lone Lees-McRae player in double figures with 12 points. Boyd and Langston had eight rebounds apiece to lead Anderson to a plus-16 (58-42) margin on the boards. Anderson led 38-29 at the half. The Bobcats never got closer than 15 points in the second half. A field goal by Thomas with 4:14 remaining gave Anderson a 26-point lead (61-35), its largest lead of the game. Box: Anderson 67, Lees-McRae 49
