ANDERSON, S.C. -- Deidra Langston scored 28 points and Anderson University shot 61 percent from the field in the second half on its way to a 109-58 victory in a non-conference game Friday night at the Abney Center. Anderson, 6-1 overall, has won six straight. The loss drops Converse to 1-10. Anderson topped 100 points for the first time this season. The previous high scoring output for the Lady Trojans this season was 79 points against Davis & Elkins on Nov. 24. Langston, a 5-foot-11 senior All-American candidate from Gainesville, Ga., made eight field goals and was 12-for-14 from the line. Anderson recorded season highs for free throws attempted (52) and free throws made (44). The two teams combined for 53 total fouls and 77 free-throw attempts. Following Langston for Anderson were Mikala Fogle-Wilson with 19 points, Latrice Thomas with 12, and Genia Holbrook with 11. Converse was led by Lauren Mueller with 14 points and Sydney Brown with 12. Anderson never trailed and there were no ties. Anderson's lead reached 20 points for the first time at the 5:57 mark of the first half when three free throws by Langston gave the Lady Trojans a 42-22 lead. A three-point play by Langston with 12:31 remaining in the game pushed the Lady Trojans' lead over 30 for the first time -- 71-40. Anderson's lead reached as high as 53 points three times in the final two minutes. Led by Genia Holbrook's 12 rebounds, Anderson dominated the boards, 46-27. The Lady Trojans outscored the All-Stars in the paint, 36-12. Anderson scored 28 points off 23 Converse turnovers. Anderson's 13 turnovers tied its season low. Thomas had six of Anderson's 13 steals.
