THOMASVILLE, N.C. -- Deidra Langston, a senior forward from Anderson University, has been selected as the NCAA Division II Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference (CVAC) women's basketball Player of the Week for the fifth week of the 2006-07 season. The Player of the Week award is Langston's second of the season. The 5-foot-10 Gainesville, Ga., senior led Anderson to two victories as the Lady Trojans stretched their winning streak to eight games. Langston scored 18 points as Anderson avenged its lone loss of the season by beating Georgia College and State, 78-59. In Anderson's final game before the holiday break, Langston scored a season-high 31 points to lead the Lady Trojans to a 70-52 victory over state-rival Claflin, a team that had recorded victories over two nationally ranked teams -- Wingate and Fort Valley State. Langston scored 17 of her points against Claflin in the second half. Langston was 13-for-15 from the line against the Pantherettes. With their 2-0 week, Langston and the Lady Trojans improved their record to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the CVAC.
