Lady Trojans Crack Top 25

LILBURN, Ga. -- The Anderson University women's basketball team is ranked No. 20 in this week's WBCA USA TODAY/ESPN Division II Top 25 coaches' poll released Tuesday afternoon. "Our team has worked very hard this year to put themselves into a position to be considered for national recognition," said Anderson head coach Jeff Dow. "The commitment they have made to being a better defensive team and rebounding team has allowed us to improve throughout the season. We certainly recognize that there is a lot of work to be done and we still have a lot we would like to accomplish." The Lady Trojans, 10-1 overall, started in the 2005-2006 season ranked in the poll. But after the starting the season 2-2, Anderson dropped out of the rankings. Tuesday marked the return of the Lady Trojans to the rankings for the first time in 13 months. Anderson, riding a 10-game winning streak, is the only Division II women's team in the state of South Carolina in the national poll. North Dakota (19-1) is ranked No. 1 this week. Washburn (12-1), Southern Connecticut State (14-0), Missouri Western State (14-0), and Florida Gulf Coast (18-0) round out the top five. The only other school from the Carolinas in this week's poll is Wingate (11-3) at No. 19. The complete poll is available at www.wbca.org.
