First-Place Mount Olive Runs Past Anderson

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. -- Mount Olive used full-court pressure to break the game open in the second half went on to post a 99-65 victory over Anderson University in a Conference Carolinas game Saturday afternoon. Mount Olive, 16-4 overall and 12-2 in the conference, lead 40-28 at the half. In the second half, Mount Olive shot 60 percent from the field on its way to scoring 54 points. "I was disappointed with the way we handled the pressure in the second half," said Anderson head coach Jason Taylor. "It hasn't bothered us all year and it didn't bother us in the first half. We didn't make shots and we didn't share the ball enough. "When the ball is not going in, it gets harder and harder to play defense. You have to be tough. We need to get tougher." Mount Olive scored 26 points off 18 Anderson turnovers. Anderson shot just 35 percent from the field. Mount Olive was led by Brandon Streeter with 21 points and nine rebounds. Kendrick Easley added 13 points, Josh Brown scored 11, and Aking Elting chipped in 10. Anderson, 8-12 and 6-7, was led by Brandon Young with 21 points. Young has scored in double figures in 19 of 20 games this season and has scored 20 or more points in five straight games. Mount Olive made 10-for-28 from behind the arc, while Anderson was just 2-for-14 from long range. Mount Olive's bench outscored the Anderson bench, 41-17.
