JV Team Falls To Southern Wesleyan

CENTRAL, S.C. -- The Anderson University junior varsity basketball team dropped a 77-55 decision to Southern Wesleyan last Thursday. The Trojans, who competed against a combination of varsity and JV players, took a 41-40 lead on a lay-up by Hans Christensen with ten minutes to go in the game. From that point on, Southern Wesleyan's full-court pressure caused several costly turnovers and took control of the game. "I am very proud of the effort and intensity with which we played," said Anderson head coach Jeff Brookman. "I think we did a great job on the boards and our zone defenses proved to be very effective. Their full court pressure in the last ten minutes led to many easy baskets. This will be something that we work on before our next game. I am very pleased with where we are after only two short weeks of practice." The Trojans were led by Daniel Herrin's 19 points and eight rebounds and Christensen's 11 points and seven rebounds. Andrew Driver was the third leading scorer with nine points. The Trojan JV is back in action Tuesday, November 6, when they travel to Montreat.
