East Regional Coming To Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson College will be the host school for the 2005 Division II Women's East Regional, the NCAA announced Sunday night. Anderson (31-2), the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference regular-season and tournament champion, is seeded No. 1 in the event. "This is another big step for our basketball program," said Anderson head coach Kevin Pederson. "We're excited to be the host school for a regional in just our second NCAA Tournament." The Lady Trojans, who have won 21 straight games, are the No. 1 seed in the East Region. Joining Anderson in the field are No. 2 California (Pa.), the defending Division II national champion; No. 3 Charleston (W.Va.), No. 4 Fairmont State, No. 5 Glenville State, No. 6 Clarion, No. 7 Wheeling Jesuit, and No. 8 Millersville. The regional will be played Friday, Saturday, and Monday at the Abney Center on the Anderson College campus. There will be four sessions - 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Friday, 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Monday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 per session for adults and $5 per session for students. A tournament booklet will be sold on Friday only for $30. The winner of Monday night's championship game advances to the Elite Eight Mar. 23, 24 and 26 at Hot Springs, Ark.
