Lady Trojans Make Big Jump In Regional Poll

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Anderson College women's basketball team jumped from No. 5 to No. 2 in the latest Division II East Regional poll released Wednesday afternoon. Anderson, 27-2 overall, has won 17 straight games. The No. 2 regional ranking is the highest ever for the Anderson women's program. For the past two weeks, Anderson has been ranked No. 5 in the USA TODAY/ESPN/WBCA Division II Coaches poll, but the Lady Trojans have never been higher than No. 4 in the East Region rankings until Wednesday's poll was released. The regional rankings are the No. 1 device used by the NCAA to determine participants and seeding in the upcoming Division II Tournament, which begins Mar. 11 at eight sites around the country. Charleston (W.Va.) is the No. 1 team in the East Region. The remainder of the top eight after No. 2 Anderson are No. 3 California (Pa.), No. 4 Fairmont State, No. 5 Glenville State, No. 6 Clarion, No. 7 Wheeling Jesuit, and No. 8 Belmont Abbey. Anderson has more overall victories than any team in the East Region and has the same number of region victories as Charleston. The Lady Trojans are 4-1 against regionally ranked teams.
